Imperial Ice Stars give contemporary twist to 鈥楽wan Lake鈥
“SWAN Lake on Ice” premiered in Sydney in 2006 and has toured 15 countries. Now it’s about to debut in Shanghai.
Twenty-six figures skaters from The Imperial Ice Stars will perform the combination of ballet and figure skating to tell the story.
The skaters have won more than 250 national and world medals combined.
Russian costume designer Albina Gabueva has added details from the Romanov Dynasty to add an authentic touch to the show.
Australian stage designer Eamon D’Arcy talked with the performers about their ideas so as to ensure a great set that is also safe.
Imperial Ice Stars has previously adapted “The Nutcracker,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “Cinderella” to critical acclaim.
