ALDI opens two new stores in Hongkou and Pudong

ALDI is excited to announce the opening of its two pilot stores in Shanghai this month.

The international retailer’s eighth store in the city, located in Hongkou District, celebrated its grand opening on September 12, while its ninth store will open this Saturday in Pudong New Area.

Both stores will continue to offer curated products of international quality at everyday value prices to its Chinese and international customers.

The two new stores are offering some amazing deals while celebrating the famous Oktoberfest, a popular beer festival held in Germany every year.

Customers can enjoy Oktoberfest without leaving the comfort of their homes by indulging in some irresistible deals on German-style hot dogs, pretzels, meatballs and Karlskrone beers.

ALDI’s members can enjoy gifts such as a EXPRESSI coffee machine, a set of fridge magnets and an ALDI shopping cart, when they purchase over certain amounts.

ALDI has remained steadfast to one principle that has guided the store since it began in Germany more than 100 years ago — providing international quality product at everyday value to customers. Products from its exclusive brands are handpicked for consumers by the supermarket’s very own team of quality experts.

The products undergo regular in-house testing and independent analysis for quality and safety assurance.

Since ALDI entered China in 2017, it has been striving to become a go-to location for Chinese consumers’ grocery shopping. Just like ALDI’s previous pilot stores, the two new shops offer a seamless online to offline retail experience.

Customers can shop for their favorite products on ALDI’s WeChat Mini-Program and enjoy instant delivery services if they live within 5 kilometers of each store.

Customers in the Yangtze River Delta region can also have products delivered through the mini-program.

ALDI has always been grateful for its loyal customers’ support and will be offering additional deals to members in the future. Furthermore, ALDI has launched the Diamond Membership Program, a new rewards program for members. If members spend over 800 yuan (US$118) in a calendar month they can enjoy a 6 percent discount on all products the following month.

ALDI works hand-in-hand with long-time suppliers and partners both locally and abroad to deliver high quality products at great value to consumers. From fresh produce to ready-to-eat meals, from delicious wines to mouth-watering snacks, all products are handpicked by a team of ALDI experts.

ALDI’s first pilot stores debuted in China in June 2019 in the Jing’an and Minhang districts. But since then it has continued to expand to Baoshan, Putuo, Xuhui, Hongkou districts and Pudong New Area.

Aside from ALDI’s pilot stores and WeChat Mini-Program, consumers can also shop with ALDI through Tmall Global Flagship Store, Tmall Classic Store, as well as Ele.me and JD Daojia.
