An eye for draping

3 Suisses, France's leading distance sales fashion group, celebrated its 12th anniversary on the Chinese mainland last week by organizing a runway show at an old villa-turned-restaurant in Shanghai's Xintiandi area.

It has also launched its guest designer collaboration for 2010, a collection of dresses, skirts, tops and jackets designed by talented Belgian designer Jean Paul Knott, who has worked for brands such as YSL, Krizia, Louis Feraud and Cerutti. He launched his own brand in 2000.

The collection features a simple palette of black and grey, with splashes of dashing red. The silhouettes are simple and loose, cut in fluid lines. Famous for his draping techniques, Knott has created a strapless dress with a beautiful flowing and airy effect, as well as a graceful red dress featuring an original asymmetrical cut that can be worn in a number of different ways.

The collection also includes a fitted blazer jacket, a puffy jacket and a pair of ultra feminine open-toe satin pumps.

Meanwhile, local fast fashion brand Carnaby, named after London's famous Carnaby Street, has also recently invited popular Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun to design a limited collection.

Sun's maiden design works reflect her favorite daily style, which is casual yet chic, with special attention paid to the details. The collection features mainly black and white. A long T-shirt featuring a lace-effect print is worn with the hottest slit legging of the season, and a fitted leather jacket is matched with a pair of harem pants with draping effect. There is also a wonderful top that can be worn as a scarf.
