Chenjia Town Eco-building


THE five-story eco-building covers 5,117 square meters and aims at low energy consumption, low emissions and high quality of life. It is expected to be a model of an international, experimental eco-community.

It uses alternative energy sources and reuses them; it creates almost no emissions. It does not draw on external traditional energy sources.

Highlights:

Energy savings up to 75 percent

More than 50 percent of the energy is reused.

Almost no energy consumed during operation

Almost no emissions

An enveloping structure or outer skin helps save energy.

New heat-retaining materials and shading control energy consumption.

Geothermal energy (GSHP/Ground Source Heat Pump) is the main source of heating and cooling. The building is warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather.

A ventilation tower makes use of natural air flow to keep the building fresh and airy.

Natural daylight is used throughout.

Sewage and waste water is collected, treated and used for irrigation and organic fertilizer; rainwater is collected and used for the landscape watering.

Recycled materials are used and recycling is a major feature of the building.
