Classic, modern and electro tango

ARGENTINE troupe Tango Desire will perform both traditional and contemporary tangos - some with an electronic twist - on January 12 at Shanghai Grand Theater.

The internationally renowned cast of dancers, singers and musicians will perform songs such as "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" as well as classics by Piazzola and contemporary works.

Director Carlos Ferreyra brings 12 dancers, two vocalists and several musicians to stage what he calls "the real tango."

This is the company's third tour in China. The troupe performed at the Harbin Music Festival last August and at the Beijing Art Festival in May.

The company was founded in 2002 in Buenos Aires. It includes traditional, modern, milonga (gaucho songs) and contemporary tango, and sometimes adds electronic elements.
