Design your own 'green' tote bag
CARRYING a recyclable shopping bag has become a trend nowadays among young people in Shanghai. A chic recycling bag serves not only as a functional tote but also as an extra accessory to complete your look.
Now you can design your own one-of-a-kind canvas tote at Puma's flagship store on Nanjing Road W., where the German sportswear brand has set up a temporary booth, encouraging people to "create your style" while teaching them how to come up with a unique bag.
It's very easy. Usually it takes less than 10 minutes. All you need to do is to choose the patterns you like (they have a data base), or write some words down which can also be turned into patterns, mix-and-match them on a plain canvas bag (there are four color options) and wait for the staff to print them on the bag.
"I think it's very cool to have my own recyclable bag," says Su, a local graphic designer. "It's a fun experience."
The 26-year-old has designed a black tote featuring a yellow submarine and his motto: No matter how, play.
Also on display at the booth is an exhibition of 13 special recycling bags designed by celebrities, artists and stars including famous Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, pop singer Fish Leung, football star Xie Hui and celebrated dancer Huang Doudou.
These bags are on display to be auctioned through November 29. Everyone is welcome to bid. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the China Welfare Institute.
