DISCERNING and educated customers nowadays may be tired of international brands. But they still want the impeccable quality that these brands provide, just in products that have more Asian personality and originality.

A new boutique recently opened in the Xintiandi area that focuses on the revival of Chinese aesthetics such as rich detail and beautiful colors.

After leading the design at Shanghai Trio for seven years, Dai Di, one of the most recognized Chinese designers in the field of home decoration, decided to launch her own brand: Oshadai.

"It was born from a desire to return to elegant authenticity. The name Oshadai evokes this aspiration. 'Shadai' are the sandbags of our childhood. They were so simple, yet treasured because they were pretty and allowed us to play for hours,'' she said.

Oshadai selects the best natural materials, including cotton, hemp, silk, cashmere and some hand-made fabric that is hand printed and hand dyed. Its products include household items and fashion accessories.

The boutique constantly introduces new products, with two to four launches per quarter and two seasons of fashion designs.
