Fashion fair pushes more efforts to diversify, market high-end clothing
THE 18th Ningbo International Fashion Fair, held at the Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Center last month, highlighted innovative fashion ideas and the upgrading of the local clothing industry.
The four-day fashion fair’s key segments were business deals, fashion releases and clothing seminars, aiming to push forward the fashion-oriented innovation among the local clothing designers and manufacturers.
Lu Ziyue, mayor of Ningbo, said that local companies should take advantage of the e-commerce channels and spread the reputation of Ningbo products to the world.
He also emphasized the importance of making high-end clothing and acknowledged traditional local brands’ efforts in diversifying their categories.
Ningbo has been making various efforts in recent years to upgrade its clothing industry, such as introducing new machinery and eliminating the dependence on cheap labor.
In the first half of 2014, the city’s export delivery value of textiles and clothing increased by 3.32 percent year on year.
The fair saw 241 companies, including 265 brands, take part. More than 1,800 booths were prepared at the exhibition center, half of which were occupied by local companies.
The 2014 Ningbo Fashion Week was introduced during the fair. The event saw new releases from nine brands and hosted 19 fashion shows, embodying both Chinese and international fashion brands.
