Fine craftsmanship behind eggshell porcelain in Jiangxi

Eggshell porcelain, famous for its thin and transparent body, displays the high-standard handwork of masters in Jingdezhen, east China鈥檚 Jiangxi Province.

Xiong Guo鈥檃n, inheritor of the traditional eggshell porcelain craft, began learning the art from his father when he was 12 years old. Having been in the industry for 49 years, he now can make eggshell porcelain artworks with a thickness of only 0.15 millimeters.

Xiong prefers to work during silent nights, so he can focus on the art.

鈥淗andwork is the spirit of Jingdezhen, and I choose to stick to it for I regard it as my responsibility,鈥 said Xiong.
