Hip-hop dance group rocking Shanghai stage

LAUNCHED in 2003 in San Diego, California, the Jabbawockeez is one of the world’s hottest and most electrifying modern dance and hip-hop troupes best known for their white masks, white gloves and baseball hats. It was the winner of the first season of “America’s Best Dance Crew” in 2008.

The Jabbawockeez has started its China tour, “PRISM,” in Shanghai with 10 performances featuring hip-hop, popping, breaking, locking, LA style and jazz.

State-of-the-art sound, light and stage design are combined to create a visual extravaganza. Traditional Chinese elements such as martial arts and Taoism are also incorporated in the China shows.

The Jabbawockeez is the brainchild of the Phil “Swagger Boy” Tayag, Kevin “KB” Brewer and Joe “Punkee” Larot who wanted to showcase freestyle dance. The name was inspired by the fantastical monster from the Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem “Jabberwocky.”
