Join literary legend Borges on his journey around the world

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Jorge Luis Borges鈥 birth, 鈥淓l Altas De Borges鈥 is being exhibited at the Jing鈥檃n District Cultural Center. Borges (1899-1986) was one of Argentina鈥檚 most influential writers.

鈥淓l Atlas De Borges鈥 showcases a series of photographs taken by Borges and his wife, Maria Kodama, during their travels around the world. More than 150 works are on show in China for the first time.

The highlight of the exhibition is 鈥淎tlas,鈥 a collection of poems written by Borges in 1984. Together with his wife, he penned down his impressions of places and experiences from a hotel in Reykjavik to a California balloon ride.

Born in Buenos Aires, Borges became a key figure in Spanish and general literature. His short stories, essays, and poetry have become classics of 20th-century world.

His notable works are 鈥淎 Universal History of Infamy鈥 (1935), 鈥淔icciones鈥 (1944) and 鈥淭he Book of Sand鈥 (1975). Borges became completely blind in his late fifties due to a hereditary condition. His late works were dictated.

At Jing鈥檃n District Cultural Center, viewers can read the complete series of Borges鈥 work, published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House.
