Join literary legend Borges on his journey around the world

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Jorge Luis Borges’ birth, “El Altas De Borges” is being exhibited at the Jing’an District Cultural Center. Borges (1899-1986) was one of Argentina’s most influential writers.

“El Atlas De Borges” showcases a series of photographs taken by Borges and his wife, Maria Kodama, during their travels around the world. More than 150 works are on show in China for the first time.

The highlight of the exhibition is “Atlas,” a collection of poems written by Borges in 1984. Together with his wife, he penned down his impressions of places and experiences from a hotel in Reykjavik to a California balloon ride.

Born in Buenos Aires, Borges became a key figure in Spanish and general literature. His short stories, essays, and poetry have become classics of 20th-century world.

His notable works are “A Universal History of Infamy” (1935), “Ficciones” (1944) and “The Book of Sand” (1975). Borges became completely blind in his late fifties due to a hereditary condition. His late works were dictated.
