Program launched for young musical lovers
AEP-CHINA, a cultural and art education program initiated by conductor Yu Long and Volkswagen Group (China) for all young people of China, was formally launched in Shanghai on Sunday night.
With years of preparation and planning, the program aims to promote high-quality music and rich art activities throughout China, gather and link the young people of the whole country via the charm of music, and build an international platform for participation and create more diversified opportunities of expansion for the young music fans around the country, according to its initiator Yu.
The established route for 2017 covers cities like Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Qingdao, Urumqi, and Chengdu. And it plans to continue releasing “dynamic energy” of music in Kunming, Xiamen, Foshan, Xi'an and Changchun in 2018.
As one of the AEP-China financed projects, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester just finished its four-day program with Shanghai Orchestra Academy, in which the NDR chiefs rehearse and stage concerts at side-by-side with the students Shanghai Symphony Hall apart from traditional courses.
“The students were good in skill and fast in perception. Even though they had a little problem in presenting particular composer’s styles at first, they got that quickly,” said Roland Greutter, NDR chief, “I like working with the young Chinese musicians. They don’t need the blood to play Mozart.”
The Orchestra is heading to Qingdao as their second stop. Other leading musicians like cellist Ma Yo-yo, New York Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra will also participate in AEP programs this year, sharing their skills and experiences with the young musicians.
Apart from the music-major students, AEP-China is also determined to provide art experiences to ordinary music lovers. That includes activities in Shanghai Summer Music Festival, the “Young Composers Workshop”, and. interactive forums, public master classes by Noah Bendix from Berliner Philharmoniker and Frank Huang from New York Philharmonic. It is planned to attract over 100,000 music lovers in the year.
