‘Sleeping Beauty’ coming to Shanghai for National Day holiday

BASED on the famous fairy tale, “Sleeping Beauty” is regarded as the culmination of classical ballet. In the eyes of many critics, the ballet, debuted in 1890, is a near-perfect classic.

The prestigious Russian State Ballet will bring the spectacle to local audiences during the National Day holiday.

The play tells the captivating fantasy story of Princess Aurora, who is cursed by the evil Carabosse. The beautiful princess is sent into everlasting sleep until one day she is awoken by a heroic prince.

Spectacular scenes of group dancing, lavish costumes and Tchaikovsky’s compelling melodies are featured in the show. It is brimming with an atmosphere of magic and poetry.

The mega stage production features more than 60 performers and over 200 sets of costumes to depict the splendor of the royal palace. Over the past few years, it has been staged in Norway, Sweden and Ireland.
