Sparkling events raise the Christmas spirit
EVEN if there isn’t any snow, saxophone-playing Santa Clauses and brightly decorated shopping streets are heralding the most wonderful time of the year. Much of the city is already showing its festive side, but there’s also plenty of events for young and old that help fill the air with anticipation. And if you think there’s too many to chose from, don’t fret — Shanghai Daily has compiled this year’s top Christmas shows and events, from frozen bumper cars to bouncy trees and photo ops with Disney’s Elsa and Anna.
Hubindao Shopping Center
Want to see the mercury drop to freezing cold temperatures without leaving the city? The Glacier Adventure at Hubindao Shopping Center in downtown Xintiandi allows you to experience the world below minus 10 degrees Celsius. Covering an area of 1,200 square meters, the exhibition features ice sculptures of giant animals, an ice bar, a maze and ice bumper cars as well as ice bicycles and motion-sensing skiing games. The highlight is the 30-meter-long ice slide that gives you a panoramic view of the whole ice world when sliding down. For a little break, the ice bar offers frozen delicacies.
