Such a fine line between wristwear

IS it a watch, a piece of jewelry, or both?

The making of jewelry watches started when some prestigious luxury jewelry houses, such as Cartier, Chaumet and Van Cleef & Arpels, created exquisite jewelry pieces with an additional function of telling the time.

In recent years, many fashion houses, including Chanel, Dior and Gucci, have all started creating timepieces featuring not only fashionable designs but also complicated functions.

Meanwhile, traditional watch makers such as Vacheron Constantin and Omega have started to create watches with jewelry settings or unconventional designs, most of which are studded with glitter diamonds.

Fendi B. FENDI PAVE

Fendi has created this limited edition timepiece to commemorate the opening of its Asia flagship store at Plaza 66 to be launched at the end of this month.

The watch features a bold B buckle, a signature design of the Italian luxury fashion house. The timeless silhouette is structured and rigid and the buckle-shaped case and dial are covered with top-quality diamonds and precious ruby stones. It will be available at the Plaza 66 store.

Tissot Water Lily

This latest ladies' watch model by Tissot, with its shimmering radiance and graceful golden petals design, is an ultra-feminine jewelry watch for women of all ages who are soft and delicate just like the lily.

It features a pink mother-of-pearl dial with a single diamond as a finishing touch on the 12 o'clock position. The golden petals surround a mother-of-pearl dial with a sparkling solitaire diamond. The leather straps are available in black, white and red. Rado Ceramica Pave Platinum

Swiss watch manufacturer Rado is known for producing design-led, innovative watches made of high-tech, cutting-edge materials like ceramic, as well as precious metals such as platinum.

This special edition, worn by Chinese actress Chen Hao at the brand's China flagship store opening event in the city recently, is made of platinum, and features a total of 414 diamonds weighing 2.212 carats. However with all these diamonds, it doesn't look so overstated but exudes style and elegance. Omega Constellation 2009 Luxury Edition

Omega recently relaunched its most recognizable Constellation series in the Asian market. The new 2009 collection is an upgraded version of the originals created in 1982, introducing five sizes from 24-38 millimeters in a variety of colors including silver, light gold, brown and black.

The jeweled masterpiece pictured left from the collection shimmers with round diamonds set in an intriguing "snow setting."
