The newest rooftop bar in town

THE newest rooftop bar in town, The Roof, is right at the top of Waterhouse at South Bund, with a marvelous view of the glittering Pudong skyline and heritage architecture in Old Town.

Within one month of its opening, the latest hot spot for a stylish tipple is an oasis for kicking back at happy hour or enjoying the sun glinting off the river with friends on weekends.

The Spanish-influenced bar menu includes tapas such as chorizo eggs and salt and pepper oysters with lime. Other gourmet bar bites are the chick pea and potato crostini and vegetable crisps with vinegar foam.

The stars of the menu, though, are the charcoal-grilled skewers, including succulent pork belly with soy and honey sesame and tender chicken and scallop with satay sauce. The highlight is the cocktail menu, using only market fresh fruits and herbs.

Try the zesty Kiwi Mojito rustled up with juicy fresh kiwi fruit, muddled mint leaves and cachaca for a flavor burst or a Strawberry Caprioska blended with dewy fresh strawberries and strawberry liqueur.

The Roof's signature cocktail is the Dirty Lychee Martini, using raspberry vodka, fresh fruit and juice and lychee liqueur.
