鈥楢ging Society Has Arrived鈥
A five-part documentary series “An Aging Society Has Arrived” will be aired in May on the local Documentary Channel and Dragon TV.
“We want to present a positive attitude toward aging and help people prepare properly for aging-related issues,” says producer Li Tao, deputy director of the Documentary Channel.
It presents the formidable social and economic challenges posed by a rapidly aging society. The series uses real cases throughout China to illustrate inadequate social insurance and pensions, lack of infrastructure and nursing beds, unmet emotional needs of seniors, as well as family problems.
“China is in economic transition. Elder care will be combined with social development in the following decades,” Li says.
Geriatric specialists, experts in social security, sociologists and others will discuss the issues and how best to address the challenges. Successful elder care examples from Japan, Sweden and German will be shown.
