Argentina throws a party
ARGENTINA is well-known among Chinese people for its football and the tango.
Passion and exuberance are two words usually used to define its people and nature. However, the country has more to offer than sporting or dancing prowess.
And people who want to take a closer look at Argentina's many other aspects are being invited to "Love in Argentina" next Saturday.
The party, organized by the Consulate General of Argentina in Shanghai and the Moguteng Culture Club, aims to introduce local residents to authentic Argentine culture and the country's traditions.
Professional tango dancers will perform at the event and professional wine tasters will demonstrate their art. Both groups will be offering instruction to guests.
Argentina is the largest wine-producing country in South America.
Mini football game
The dancing and wine activities will be followed by a mini football game which will test visitors' flexibility and team spirit.
The party also features a photographic exhibition by Nicolas Marino, known for works that capture the remarkable Argentine scenery and the country's traditional customs.
All guests will be provided with flavored drinks and gifts. They can taste the local mate tea and barbeque and take home do-it-yourself handicrafts for souvenirs.
Mate tea, a herbal diet tea rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, has an amazing refreshing power. In Argentina, mate tea has been grown and drunk for centuries.
Since not many Chinese people get the chance to travel to Argentina because of the distance, "the party will be a good platform for them to learn more about the culture, art and people of Argentina, a country of passion and wonder," says Moguteng Culture Club's Yao Yan.
Until September 24, anyone interested in attending the party can register by calling 6307-5181 or log on to the online application system at www.moguteng.com.
Date: September 26, 2-4pm
Venue: Tango Bang, 545 Pudong Ave
Admission: 98 yuan per person, 178 yuan for two
