REZA Dari has 15 years of executive-level management experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, strategic planning and business development.
He is a contributing author and frequent commentator on film and entertainment, general market trends and next generation investment and business strategies.
With the International Film Fund (IFF), Dari has introduced an innovative investment strategy and business model for a next generation entertainment brand as the first large-scale, come-to-market film fund in Middle East and North Africa domiciled in the Dubai International Financial Center comprised of a highly experienced team of Hollywood producers and seasoned media and entertainment experts.
The Global Film Awards is an extension of the IFF business strategy to celebrate and recognize excellence and talent in filmmaking, envisaged as an independent, unbiased awards platform to bring together major film industries from around the world in the iconic city of Dubai.
Q: How do you support excellent film projects and promising filmmakers?
A: The IFF business model includes co-production and co-investment opportunities with various independent producers as well as studios. But also we look for up-and-coming talent to support through professional and strategic partnerships above and beyond capital contributions.
Q: How do you see the future development of Chinese cinema?
A: China is the world’s fastest-growing film industry, and is currently positioned to take the lead as the world’s largest film market. The richness of Chinese history and culture is capable of infusing international cinema with great content. Therefore, I’m very optimistic on the future of Chinese cinema and its contribution to global cinema.
Q: Are you considering collaborating with the Chinese film and TV industry in the future?
A: Yes, of course. We have been exploring collaboration opportunities with a number of potential Chinese partners and counterparts. We are actively looking for co-production opportunities to develop great Chinese content packaged with great Chinese talent to be showcased to a global audience. I believe professional collaboration with international production partners is the key to further expanding the market space for the Chinese film industry.
