Garage punk from Tokyo

THE Tokyo garage punk band The Fadeaways will stage at Yuyintang live house tonight, joined by local band The Illimin8tiors and the Shanghai party band The Macaronians.

The Fadeaways have performed with The Pretty Things and 5678's. They are influenced by and sound similar to The Flamin' Groovies, The Kingsmen, Paul Revere & The Raiders, MC5, and The Stooges.

The Illumin8tors is a music/dance/visual arts collective formed around several mainstays of the Shanghai music scene. Founding member Estel Vilar conceived the group as a way to fuse a love of music and performance with an appreciation of Chinese culture and legends.

Members of The Illumin8tors hail from such diverse bands as Hotter Than Teppanyaki, Break for Borneo, The Dovetail Joints, Pause and The Beat Bandits.

The band also contains several of Shanghai's finest capoeiristas, practitioners of a Brazilian art combining music, sports and martial arts.
