Royal Danish Ballet 'Napoli'

ROYAL Danish Ballet will bring their classic performance "Napoli" to Shanghai in June. The three-act ballet premiered at the Royal Danish Theater in 1842. It is not only one of August Bournonville's signature masterpieces, but also a shining example of Danish interpretation of Romanticism. In "Napoli," we meet Teresina and Gennaro, a young couple who must suffer greatly before they can be united. Their boundless love and Christian faith lead them to defeat the powers of darkness. Choreographically, Bournonville sought inspiration from domestic and foreign styles of dance. Since its premiere, "Napoli" has remained one of Denmark's favorite ballets and one of Royal Danish Ballet's most influential repertoires.
