Taiwan's tourist spots and gadgets
VISITORS can see some of the most beautiful tourist spots in Taiwan by visiting the Shanghai Art Museum and catch the latest Taipei trends at a creative industry fair.
The museum features the show "Touring Taiwan -- Highlights from the Taipei Fine Arts Museum Collection." Works in oil, watercolor and ink-wash all feature well-known tourist destinations.
From the mountains and sea of the northeast coast to the Tamsui River and Orchid Island, the varied scenery in Taiwan gradually unfolds in front of viewers.
For example, Lin Yu-shan takes the famous Ali Mountain sea of cloud as his theme. With its streamlined yet generous composition and technique, its bright, flowing ink colors, is a travel work recording the artist's gaze from Ali Mountain toward distant Tarshan.
"In high-pressure and rushed modern life, people may, through travel, rediscover their own dialogue with the land or communicate and console each other's spirits," says exhibition curator Lin Yu-chun.
In addition to the exhibition, the "Creative Industry Fair of Twin Cities -- Shanghai and Taipei" will run from June 17 to 20 at ShanghaiMart.
Covering 13,400 square meters, the event is divided into Creative Lifestyle, Museum Souvenirs and Fashion Design, among other aspects of Taiwan creativity.
The Museum Souvenir section is the highlight, where great works of art from Taipei's Palace Museum are featured in clothing, jewelry, home wares, stationery, digital products and many other items -- 3,000 different items.
For example, a silicon cell phone case bears a reproduction of "The Preface to the Orchid Pavilion" written by Wang Xizhi (AD 303-361), a masterpiece of Chinese calligraphy.
The souvenir is often sold out in the museum.
