Caoyang becomes ‘smart’ community

THE Caoyang Smart Community Experience Center opened on March 23 to show how technology betters society.

The center goes into detail about 10 examples including transportation planning, building real time health profiles and participating in volunteer works.

Fifty people experienced the center’s smart community services on the opening day. This included everything from buying groceries online to making reservations for administrative services.

A portal website “Caoyang, Shanghai” will be launched to provide information about administrative affairs and public services. A WeChat account “Love Caoyang” will also be launched.

Caoyang plans to issue cards to all residents. They can be used for public transportation, service and product discounts, booking appointments and making reservations for free movie screenings in the community.

It is the first community card in Shanghai that also acts as a public transport card.

Caoyang is the first community in Putuo to launch such projects. The goal is to show how information technology has brought new energy to the “old residential village.”
