The heatwave has wilted vegetables and raised produce prices at market. To reduce commodity prices, the Putuo District Commercial Bureau started giving a subsidy to farmers on August 2. It is the third special weather subsidy this year. Farmers receiving subsidies should be selling produce at 20 to 30 percent below the market price.
