AI facilitates a better us

In recent years, AI has been making waves, with ChatGPT being a prime example. Its versatility has led to its use in many ways, such as writing cover letters, creating training documents, and assisting students with their essays. Many people become worried about their future and career in the face of the rapid development and widespread application of AI in various fields of society. As students, how do we face it positively?

Instead of being too pessimistic or fearful, it’s better to have a balanced and rational view of the pros and cons of AI, and make good use of it to prepare ourselves for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

There is no denying that AI excels at repetitive tasks that can be easily automated, and can assume a greater role in industries where the work is considered hazardous or dangerous. However, rather than replacing human jobs, experts believe that AI can drive humans to shift toward more specialized industry roles. Besides, while the number of job openings in some sectors might shrink as companies increase their reliance on AI, the technology will generate new jobs in other sectors. Therefore, I don’t think I will get no jobs in the future, but rather embrace it as a powerful tool and a potential partner.

First, we may as well keep learning and update our skills in areas such as science, technology, engineering, math and computer science, which helps keep up with the advance of science and technology and adapt to the changing demands of the labor market after our graduation from university.

Besides, it’s also important to recognize that technology will never fully easily replicate or easily surpass the soft skills of human beings, such as creativity, leadership, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Thus, it is advisable that we can cultivate these uniquely human skills, which will make us stand out in the field.

Finally, it’s doubtlessly a good idea to explore our own interests and passions, and find our niche and value proposition in the AI landscape. We should also be flexible and open-minded to try new things and experiment with different roles and projects when entering university.

In general, although AI has the potential to replace various jobs, it is still important to improve ourselves. We should feel optimistic and confident about our future jobs. Only in this way can we have the potential and talent to succeed in whatever field we choose and become a better us.
