Christmas shows a massive success
AT Shanghai United International School it was a great pleasure seeing so many parents and children at the Winter Festival on December 3. The Parent Support Group worked extremely hard over the past couple of months to make the event a success and the day turned out so well. SUIS staff - teaching, administration and services - also contributed handsomely to the event. The day raised over 35,000 yuan (US$5,500) for the Sunshine Foundation.
On December 8, SUIS G6 students presented their talent show. It was a most enjoyable evening and testament to the great range of talents which these students possess and to the hard work of many people which went in to preparing them to perform. As an example of the diverse range of talents on show, the top three places were filled by a student playing guqin (a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family) another playing sophisticated jazz on the piano and the overall winner was the "Angel Four" group who delivered an outstanding rendition of "Back in December."
For three days leading up to the Christmas holiday all Reception to G5 classes were busy with last minute preparations for their Christmas shows. It was very well worth it as audiences were treated to an extravaganza of music, song and dance from individuals and groups. Ballet, orchestra, wushu, belly dancing and even the staff choir contributed handsomely, filling the occasion with joy, laughter and the high spirits of the season.
