Friends, teachers offer help during trying transition

On the first day I was impossibly shy, nervous and emotionless. And, it was also on the same day I made my first friend. Then, it was pre-school. I had stayed by my older sister and my parents’ side until I was greeted by a new teacher and pushed into a new class. I wasn’t the last one there, and I wasn’t the first one. A girl was there before me, looking as lost, confused, and shy as I was. Our teacher pushed us together, and I didn’t even notice the other classmates as we talked over everything.

Then came the learning. Pre-school, for me, is like stepping into a pool. You don’t jump all in and completely immerse yourself, but test out the water to see if it’s fine. Then you go a little deeper and wade in, and you begin to be fully immersed. That’s the learning path. And you are not by yourself, because there are teachers who guide you. Everyone starts at the “shallow” end and finishes at the “deep” end.
