Getting a taste of city life on perfect day out

As an expatriate in Shanghai, I never lose my European roots when spending a Saturday out in the city. A perfect Saturday for me is spent walking around the former French concession during the day and going to the Bund at night.

The former French concession’s restaurants’ and cafes’ European aesthetic and laid-back aura make me feel like I’m back in France, walking the streets of small villages in the country’s wine region. Walking past small lanes with old Art Deco Chinese houses helps me to remember how culturally diverse Shanghai is.

Eating lunch on Ferguson Lane in the area is great because of the restaurants’ vast selections of European meals.

Finally, eating a healthy dinner at Wagas and walking to the Bund to enjoy the view of the buildings at night concludes my ideal Saturday in the city I proudly call my home away from home.
