IB Visual Arts: learning about ourselves
Throughout the past two years I have learnt a great deal about myself and the people around me by creating works in the IB Visual Arts course.
I was challenged to develop my ideas by taking materials and contextual meaning into consideration, something I had never really thought of previously and which made my work much more impactful. What made art lessons especially enjoyable was having a space to create with like-minded people in my class, sharing our ideas and encouraging each other to take risks.
In the end, seeing everything we had created come together and curating the final exhibition gave us a sense of achievement and, in many ways, pride. Having friends, parents and teachers congratulate us was a very rewarding experience and their interest in the art showed us the impact we can have as artists and the true power of creativity.
