Jail ‘Cell’ phone

A phone is a master you obey.

It calls you when it’s bored,

Ringing loud enough to annoy you,

Beeping long enough to vex you.

Screeching and shrieking their grotesque harangues;

Regurgitating growls and barks,

Scab your eardrum ebony

Because it wants you;

It wants your attention.

Like a lion and an antelope,

You can never brawl;

You can only run.

And even then,

Your fate still lay within the lion’s paw

A phone is an endless labyrinth you are trapped in

Full of twists and turns to keep you in

Countless hours spent trying to escape

Even if you pry free-

It’s temporary-

And eventually

You will return to our starting spot

But you could try,

Turn right

Turn left

Turn right again

Will a million turns let you out?

Or are we trapped,

In the endless spirals,

Of the cellphone screen?

A phone is a time bomb you cannot stop.

You don’t know how long,

And you cannot defuse

Like a Schrödinger cat,

Any moment can mean mishap.

You never know until it happens,

But when it does, it’s a calamity

Whether it’s a WeChat bully,

Or a Samsung galaxy,

It always results in catastrophe.
