One-of-a-kind graduation gifts

GRADUATION is one of life's milestones. To celebrate this special moment, personalized graduation gifts are a great option.
Hopejoy, an online store founded by four female graduates on taobao.com, provides handmade gifts highlighted by books, bags and cabinets decorated with tailor-made words and messages.
Graduating from East China Normal University last year, the four founders used to be roommates who shared the same major in multimedia design and the same dream of opening such a store.
"We opened the store right after our graduation. It was the best way to celebrate our graduation," says Joy Zhu, one of the founders. "Although we have our own jobs now, the store ties us closely. It's pleasing to see our guests happy about our handmade gifts."
Here, customers can choose their own favored book cover or bag design style and size. All they need to do next is personalizing the item with some words for the recipient of the gift.
What is so special about Hopejoy's cabinet design is that each letter is a separate drawer.
"Letters can be small and big. But each of them serves the same purpose as a drawer," Zhu says. "Made of wood, the cabinet can meet today's young people's demands of being individualistic and special."
The customized cabinet costs 3,999 yuan (US$618.27) while the notebook with tailor-made cover costs 70 yuan.
The prices for personalized bags range from 139 yuan to 500 yuan.
