SCIS dishes up all-you-can-eat fun
Shanghai Community International School’s annual International Food Festival is a major fun activity for students. A fantastic day of family fun features music, performances, games, a raffle and lots of tasty food.
This year, Shanghai Daily hosted a booth introducing families to the newspaper and iDEAL Shanghai’s cultural and lifestyle events. Many used the bright blue Shanghai Daily tote bags donated by the newspaper to carry home prizes and gifts from the festival.
Parents and students staffed booths each selling unique delicacies of their home countries. From Turkish kebabs, to Japanese sushi, to Dutch pancakes — the food festival had it all. The booths represented over 30 countries and regions, ensuring everyone found something to enjoy. They sold food that was either donated by local restaurants, or made at home by the families themselves.
Money raised during the festival will be donated to Heart to Heart charity organization, and be used to support school clubs, after-school activities and other school events.
Families at this event were able to meet each other and enjoy the energetic, inclusive, culturally diverse community the holds together and defines SCIS.
