The new year brings new experiences

Starting a new school year is exciting, because you know you will learn many new things. There are many classes I’m looking forward to this year, like science and computing. Each year the classes get slightly more advanced and you learn more. Despite the fact that I may find some subjects challenging, like Chinese for example, I still try hard and want to learn it because of the ways I use what I learn in my life. I have always had awesome Chinese teachers at YCIS, and I definitely use what I have learned in class to communicate with people every day.

I’m also excited to meet new teachers and new people because you tend to meet so many different types of people at school. I also want to see my friends because I don’t see them often during the holiday. Even though some of my friends from last year moved back home, I have a lot of good friends at school and I am sure I will also make new friends.

Another reason is that my Boy Scout Troop meets every weekend, and that provides us a lot of opportunities. For example, this summer Scouts and Leaders from our troop went to Nepal and to build houses for families with Habitat for Humanity. It was an amazing experience and we really bonded, so I look forward to seeing my friends at our weekly Scout meetings.

And last, believe it or not, I am excited to get back to eating at the cafeteria. I have to say, they make some awesome food!
