Exhibiton on Anne Frank
DEVELOPED by the Anne Frank House and co-funded by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Shanghai, the exhibition “Anne Frank — A History for Today” tells Frank’s story of survival during war.
Frank was a Jewish girl who was forced to go into hiding during World War II to escape the Nazis. Along with seven others she hides in the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding they were discovered and sent to concentration camps.
Her father, Otto Frank, was the only one of the eight people to survive. Anne became world famous after the discovery of her diaries she kept while in hiding.
The yearlong exhibition at the Shanghai Jewish Refuges Museum has photographs of her childhood in Frankfurt and in Amsterdam, and portrays the situation of the Jewish community during the war. Her story is still important and teaches us about the consequences of excluding communities from society.
