Japanese eatery oozes history

MIGA Japanese restaurant sits on the second floor of one of the many elegant villas in the atmospheric former French Concession in downtown Shanghai.

The area oozes history and elegance and Miga fits in perfectly with its space and its modern, simple and refined decor.

There is both privacy and harmony. One can sit at the bar to watch the preparation of sushi and delicate dishes, or in private rooms to enjoy the tranquil environment and splendid fare.

The emphasis is on fresh and seasonal produce and dishes vary with the season and what's available in the market.

The presentation of various dishes, with judiciously chosen porcelain, delicate crystal and painted plates enhance the visual beauty of the meals that appeal to Japanese concepts of beauty and harmony and all five senses.

The venue offers both a la carte and set menu. The least expensive set menu is a selection of sushi, appetizer and dessert, priced at 380 yuan (US$59). Another popular set features fresh Japanese beef and foie gras, priced at 780 yuan. The lunch set menu on weekends and holidays is a bargain, 50 to 160 yuan.
