Sodagreen frontman pitches up solo in Shanghai
Singer-songwriter Wu Tsing-fong will bring his androgynous, unusually high pitched singing voice with prominent falsetto to Shanghai in early December.
The founding member and the lead vocalist of indie band Sodagreen, Wu has also written a series of songs for other musical artists, including Eason Chan, A-Mei, Jam Hsiao, Rene Liu and Sandy Lam.
Founded in 2001, Sodagreen competed in the Golden Melody Cup and won the Best Popularity Award with the composition “Peeping.”
Wu rose to fame along with the band in 2006 following the release of their second studio album “Little Universe.” The band was awarded the Best Band Award at the 18th Golden Melody Awards.
Wu also received the highly coveted Best Melody Award for “Little Love Song,” which was also nominated for best lyrics.
Sodagreen later released four concept albums based on the four seasons — “Daylight of Spring,” “Summer/Fever,” “Autumn: Stories,” “Winter Endless” — and another two studio albums “Incomparable Beauty” and “What Is Troubling You.”
In 2016, the band announced that they would be taking a three-year break to look back on their past and decide their futures.
Wu ventured on a solo career this year through taking part in the seventh season of China’s singing competition TV series “I Am a Singer,” in which he finished as the series’ runner-up.
