This year’s Asia Pet Fair to be bigger and better than ever
THE Asia Pet Fair, an annual trade event and celebration of all things pet-related, will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area later this month. The event will be open to industry professionals and the general public on August 26-27.
This year, the 20th fair will highlight more than 1,000 pet-related product manufacturers and service providers from around the world. The area has been increased to 100,000 square meters over eight exhibition halls to handle the increase of crowds.
The fair will feature a pet fashion show with new autumn and winter collections from the industry’s fashion brands, such as Touchdog, Petman, Cheepet and many others.
Another highlight is the dog pageant, which will be broadcast live on both TV and the website. David Frei, a longtime breeder-owner-handler and judge in the world of purebred dog shows, will judge the pageant.
Meanwhile, a cat pageant, co-hosted by the Cat Fanciers’ Association, INC, will showcase about 200 precious cats worth more than 10 million yuan (US$1.5 million).
Be sure to bring your cute pets to the dog sports meet, which is open to dogs of any breed. It includes hurdle racing, jumping and ocean ball pool swimming.
It’s a gala not only for dogs and cats — a variety of pets such as totoro, raccoons, ferrets, fish, lizards, hedgehogs, rabbits and alpacas will also be on display.
