Mythical Dragon Smaug took his maiden flight with Air New Zealand on December 3, swooping into Los Angeles ahead of the global premiere of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” Air New Zealand transformed a Boeing 777-300 aircraft — emblazoning the 54-meter-long Dragon on both sides. The aircraft is the only place Smaug has ever been shown in his entirety. The film is the second in the Hobbit trilogy.
