Easter treats ready to delight

SHANGHAI'S luxury hotels will be getting into the Easter spirit, providing a range of dining options for guests who want to enjoy this special time of year with family and friends.
Along with special Sunday brunch promotions, Shanghai's hotels can be a great place to pick up traditional Easter foods such as chocolates, Easter eggs and hot cross buns.
The St Regis Shanghai is kicking off its Easter celebrations on Sunday with a Champagne brunch complete with a chocolate dessert buffet.
The buffet, at Danieli's Italian Restaurant, will include Easter eggs, hot cross buns and other traditional Easter favorites at their normal Sunday brunch prices.
Its Saints International Restaurant will feature an Easter gourmet deli with goodies, including handmade chocolate Easter bunnies, eggs made from imported chocolate, and hot cross buns.
"Traditional Easter favorites together with the new seasonal menu will be prepared by our talented new Italian chef Roberto Cimmino," says Hotel Manager Hal Philp.
"A decadent chocolate dessert buffet with an assortment of homemade chocolate chards, chocolate muffins, chocolate pralines, chocolate caramel cheese cakes, truffle chocolate cakes, warm chocolate crepes, hot and iced chocolate drinks and more will also be presented," says Philp.
Sunday Champagne brunch costs 438 yuan (US$64) per adult with free-flow Moet & Chandon Champagne or 318 yuan with soft drinks.
The buffet for children between six and 12 costs 178 yuan and it's free for kids under six. Prices do not include a 15-percent surcharge.
The Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel will get a visit from the Easter Bunny during its Easter Sunday events.
"We will hold a special Easter egg hunt in our Japanese Garden, Easter egg painting, and a main attraction of a live Easter rabbit feeding session, plus an Easter bunny," says Rahman Lal, the hotel's food and beverage director.
The Easter brunch will cost 288 yuan and 144 yuan for children, which includes free flow sparkling wine and a fresh juice bar.
Prices do not include a 15-percent service charge.
Executive chef Marco Pigatto says the kitchen has been hard at work preparing a range of Easter treats. "We will have colored eggs, a lamb-carving station, chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies, carrot cakes and special Easter cookies for the kids," Pigatto says.
The Eton Hotel Shanghai in Pudong will also be putting on a special Easter promotion, launching an Easter set dinner at Chicago Steakhouse on Sunday.
Director of Marketing and Communication Michelle Mao says the four-course meal will include a spring salad and French beans starter and a combination of a braised lamb shank and roast rack of lamb with a herb crust for mains.
The dinner costs 238 yuan plus a 15-percent service charge.
There will also be a special Easter Sunday brunch at the Eton Cafe, Mao says.
"Our Mr Rabbit will greet every guest at the restaurant entrance," she adds. "At our kids corner, which is decorated with a mystical egg tree, all the kids can also enjoy a cartoon movie, egg-painting, a wonderful magic show and egg-hunting."
The buffet will include fresh seafood, a mixed grill station, a Japanese live cooking station, a health salad bar and an Asian corner.
For those with a sweet tooth, there will be different flavors of Haagen Dazs ice cream and Easter day special desserts such as hot cross buns, as well as Gaman ham with yogurt sauce and apple sauce, Yorkshire pudding and sweet cotton candy.
The Easter Sunday buffet costs 299 yuan including beer, soft drink and fresh juice or 399 yuan including Champagne, soft drink and fresh juice.
The buffet is free for children below six and half price for the six-12. For diners who buy three tickets, a fourth person can enjoy the buffet for free.
