Huge steaks and fresh seafood

HOW is a cozy lounge bistro known for its traditional French food and great wine list.

On the seventh floor of Three on the Bund, HOW features long couches, scarlet-red velvet chairs and nice views of the Huangpu River.

Describing the ambiance as "art de vivre," or passion for enjoying life, French chef Dalia Florence hopes to serve authentic creations from Burgundy, her home, featuring fresh ingredients, delicate flavors and balanced sauce pairings.

The seafood platter (300 yuan/US$47 plus 10 percent service charge) includes Alaskan king crab with tender and delicate meat, Southern Ocean prawns that are silky and sweet with fresh Fine de Claire oysters, which are flown in from New Zealand.

HOW also serves great steaks. The monster 1kg rib-eye steak (490 yuan plus 10 percent service charge) is big enough to share among three people.

For such a big steak, it's surprisingly tender and juicy. Nice marbling gives the Australian Angus beef a rich taste and fatty aroma. It's accompanied by French fries.

The bistro, designed to resemble a wine cellar, is also one of only a few places in Shanghai featuring organic wines.
