THE first Specchi Italian Café and Restaurant in Shanghai is located among the upscale boutique stores in Plaza 66.
Every single detail in the design and decor reflects Italian tastes.
Tables and chairs from Kartell Mademoiselle and designed by Philippe Starck are a skillful combination of plastic and fabric materials. The chairs are really comfortable.
Specchi originates from the historic port city of Trieste. The city is famous for coffee commerce, including Illy, one of the most famous coffees worldwide.
The restaurant features great seafood, makes its own fresh ravioli and cannelloni pasta and bakes all its bread, cakes and pastries.
The saffron rice and blanched spinach are the perfect foil for any hearty meat dish.
For sweet teeth, the Black Forest Cake (48 yuan/US$7), with its layers of chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse and rum-soaked cherries, is the ideal conclusion to any meal or is just divine on its own during afternoon tea.
