Reality of taking protein powder
OVER the past few years protein powder has become a popular item in the shops and on the Internet. And the different varieties of the product has often left shoppers scratching their heads as which one to choose.
Protein powder is said to increase muscle mass, reduce weight, and strengthen one’s immune system. But whether a person needs to take protein power is open to debate.
First of all, nutrition in the protein powder is not ideal for human consumption. It has a high concentration of protein. Protein powder has nutrition, but there is an amassment deficiency.
Its main composition is protein, so it cannot replace a day-to-day diet. If there is protein lacking in one’s diet, protein powder can replenish it. If there is no protein deficiency, the product would be a waste of money.
Also, protein is not “the more you eat the better” stuff because consuming excessive protein can lead to increased chances of cardiovascular disease.
It also increases stress on the kidneys and can drain calcium from the body. There are many misconceptions regarding protein powder. The first is that eating protein can help you lose weight, make you stronger, and strengthen the immunity.
Some parents even believe that protein powder helps children grow stronger and become smarter. All these statements are misleading.
Protein powder is only useful in certain categories, such as patients experiencing a critical period of physical recovery, older people with weak gastrointestinal functions and less food consumption, who may have issues with sufficient protein intake, as well as professional athletes and fitness personnel.
Finally, do average people really need protein powder? The answer is no. There’s no reason to consume protein powder if a person has a proper and balanced diet.
For people who go to gym for fitness, they have a higher demand for protein and a reasonable intake of protein powder can be helpful.
