Sixpad muscle training gear generates powerful sales
A little over a month after the launch of SixPad, users of MTG’s newest training gear have given it a ringing endorsement for its ease of use and durability. Portuguese and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo, who is known to be a fitness freak and backed the product, declared it “revolutionary.”
SixPad was the top selling EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) training gear on Tmall.com, one of China’s biggest online retailers, receiving an average of 4.8 points out of 5 from hundreds of users. It has also been a hot-seller on Japanese online retailer Rakuten.
“It looks cool and the wireless design makes it very convenient to use,” said Wang Jing, who is in her late twenties and bought the product three weeks ago in Shanghai. “The way it works on my body is a new experience. Unlike some other gear that simply help to shake the body, SixPad does not leave a sour feeling after use. I was told it works very well with aerobic exercises, and that’s what I have been doing.”
In short, SixPad is about exercise made easy. It is not as strenuous as in a gymnasium but still does the desired job. Talk about taking shortcuts. SixPad may not turn you into the next Ronaldo, but it does give enough of a workout to the muscles in the arms, waist and legs.
The product features a newly developed, proprietary waveform, combined with optimum 20 Hz frequency extrapolated from the EMS theory, a technology that uses electrical signals to directly stimulate the muscles. Ronaldo was involved in the development of the product and offered advice from his own training regime. The device has a soft silicone surface for the skin. The electrodes use silk printing and conductive gel sheets to distribute pulses evenly.
“It was a very good experience itself the first time I used EMS SixPad,” the Portuguese striker said. “For a footballer, consistent body training and a stable mental status is important. It works on the muscles directly and helps to strengthen the explosive power.”
Ronaldo, MTG and Thakral China, the sole distributor of the product in China, launched the product jointly on July 9 in Shanghai. It went on sale the same day on Tmall.com, a unit of Alibaba Group, and has since sold thousands of units. Consumers seem to have been taken in by the relative ease of the use of product. Sixpad can be used while reading or doing household chores, or during business or leisure trips. It can also be worn under clothes.
