The Hub celebrates famed robot cat Doraemon
DORAEMON, a popular robot cat in a Japanese animation series, is back in Shanghai with fluffy snowsuit and apparel for a one-month exhibition at The Hub — western Shanghai’s landmark fun-land mall.
Covering an area of nearly 1,000 square meters, Doraemon’s Antarctic Adventures is divided into eight themed areas featuring scenes of pre-historic glaciers and a stunning sky of Southern Lights.
There are many interactive activities, including adventure in a 7-meter-high snow castle and treasure hunt in a 200-square-meter pool of balls. Visitors even have the chance to meet Doraemon in real life and decode the brand-new movie scene.
Based on a Japanese animation film “Nobita’s Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi,” the Shanghai exhibition has re-created most of the setting in the latest Doraemon movie series.
Released on March 4, the Japanese animated movie tells the story of a journey undertaken by Nobita and his friends in Antarctica looking for the owner of a golden ring buried in the ice. Using Doraemon’s Time Belt, the group travels back 100,000 years and meet a young girl, Kara, who is connected to the mysterious ring. However, the group has to fight for survival as Doraemon faces the crisis of the entire Earth freezing.
Classic scenes with which many Doraemon fans would be familiar, such as Nobita’s room and school yard, will be presented in The Hub, enabling visitors to experience the “time tunnel” and discover the secrets in Nobita’s drawer.
There are also Doraemon pop-up stores that offer memorabilia during the exhibition period at The Hub.
A Doraemon-themed cafe, opened in partnership with Essence Cafe, offers refreshments to visitors as they enjoy the fun and thrill in Doraemon’s Antarctic Adventures.
