City prepares for good times at Leisure Expo

HANGZHOU is a city defined by its abundant leisure resources. People enjoy drinking green tea in the city's numerous teahouses, walking along the banks of the West Lake to appreciate the lotus flowers and many other activities.

This year, the second Hangzhou World Leisure Expo will take place between September 17 and November 18, with attendance expected to reach 15 million. The two-month event will feature exhibitions, performances, leisure activities (shopping, dining, health care exhibits, nightlife and sports) around the city and more than 40 forums concerning the development of the sector.

First held in 2006, the Hangzhou World Leisure Expo is jointly organized by the city's government and the World Leisure Organization. Hangzhou has since earned the reputation as the "Oriental Leisure Capital."

Major exhibitions and demonstrations by more than 50 companies in 80 cities from all over the world will be held at the White Horse Lake Convention and Exhibition Center in Binjiang District and the Leisure Expo Garden Convention and Exhibition Center.

Other highlights include a gala fireworks show over West Lake, a carnival and world-class hot-air balloon performances.

Jin Jin, the mascot of this year's fair, was unveiled recently. The mascot was inspired by the image of a drop of water.
