Enjoying the West Lake with a splash of luxury

BEAUTIFUL West Lake, with fragrant lotus blooms covering its surface and willows swaying on its banks, is one of China's most popular summer destinations.

To ensure visitors can spend time in the area in the utmost comfort, seeing attractions and relaxing, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake has launched a summer package special.

Luxurious accommodation is, of course, an essential part of the package, which also features dining options and tours.

Guests can enjoy breakfast at the hotel's WLB restaurant and VIP seats on the water platform for the "Impression West Lake" show.

They can also choose a half-day tour covered in the package. This could be a trip to the Longjing tea plantation, with round-trip transfers and a tour guide, or a boat trip on West Lake from the hotel to view the fish at Flower Harbor, one of the famous 10 scenes of West Lake. The boat trip usually departs before 2pm.

A two-night minimum stay is required and the package is on offer until August 31.

Sitting by the stunning West Lake, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake offers a wonderful location for visitors, and includes a wide range of facilities to ensure every guest can enjoy a relaxing stay.

Its outdoor swimming pool may be a perfect choice for the sun lovers at this time of year. Facing West Lake, guests can almost feel that they are swimming in the landmark lake.

For those preferring to take their exercise indoors, there is an indoor pool with comfortable daybeds and a fully-equipped fitness center that overlooks the hotel gardens.

The SPA, set in a wooded glade, provides the perfect place for guests to escape the summer heat and cacophony of cicadas.

In this tranquil haven they can relax and enjoy private tai chi and yoga classes, or try a coffee body scrub and full body massage. Guests are recommended to book with The SPA two days in advance.

Summer menus at the hotel restaurants add another special ingredient to a stay at Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake.

Noodle lovers can enjoy a lunchtime feast at the WLB restaurant, featuring a wide range of Asian dishes, such as Hong Kong wanton noodle, Taiwan oyster noodle or Singapore laksa.

And the Jin Sha Restaurant, the hotel's Chinese restaurant, named one of the "2011 Best 50 Restaurants in China" by Food & Wine magazine, provides an excellent option for dinner.

Its chefs have created a Tasting Menu and a "Summer Extravagance" menu, running until September.

"Summer Extravagance" at Jin Sha Restaurant features light, nourishing and delicious dishes specially devised to bring diners refreshing relief from the summer heat.
