Longemont offers service with a smile

THE best five-star hotels in Shanghai offer convenient access to major business and entertainment facilities, amazing views, comfortable bedding and a wide array of exquisite cuisine in pleasant surroundings.

The Longemont Shanghai, rising over Yan'an Road W. with stunning views, has much more to offer to business travelers who expect the best.

Udo H. Doring, general manager of The Longemont Shanghai, says the hotel's high occupancy rate was largely due to the popularity of Shanghai and the increase of business in China, rather than World Expo 2010.

"There are a lot of people who don't directly come to Shanghai for the Expo. The hotel is always in a high season since companies around the world are interested in doing business in China," Doring says.

"Multinational companies, groups and big state-owned companies hold annual conferences and other events in Shanghai, showing their confidence in expansion. Next year, I also predict continued growth at our hotel.''

Doring's positive forecast for the post-Expo period is well-founded due to the hotel's excellent meeting facilities and services.

Besides a super location in the heart of the bustling business district and near the former French Concession area, The Longemont Shanghai, voted a "Top 10 Most Fashionable Landmark" in the city, offers a spectacular design and world-class conference facilities.

With 1,900 square meters of combined banquet and meeting space, The Longemont Shanghai offers one of the largest meeting spaces in Puxi, including a 928-square-meter Grand Ballroom, a boardroom and nine multi-function meeting rooms.

The contemporary and imposing Grand Ballroom, boasting a bespoke design showcasing both Chinese and international influences with the masterly use of bold colors, intriguing lattice patterned ceiling and carpets with distinctive oriental motifs, is simply breathtaking. With a ceiling height of 7 meters, it can accommodate up to 1,200 guests.

For smaller events, the hotel's nine function rooms, sized 40 to 72 square meters, can cater for groups up to 150 people. For an intimate meeting or function, the exclusive Boardroom caters for groups of 20 or less. All the function rooms are designed to allow natural light to flow through.

The ballroom and function rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art convention facilities. A dedicated professional management team can customize and coordinate each event with meticulous care, providing impeccable service, showing the signature Longemont professionalism through every detail.

The wide array of cuisines available at the hotel provides the conference organizer and business guests with a range of options.

For an Asian fusion extravaganza, the hotel's all-day-dining restaurant offers the choice of a full buffet and an a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Amici restaurant provides authentic traditional Italian cuisine. The Royal China restaurant offers Cantonese dim sum delights and Tenya Japanese restaurant serves unrivaled tuna and seafood specialities.

The Lobby Lounge and the exclusive Cigar Bar boast the perfect surroundings in which to relax and unwind after a day of meetings.

Guests can also enjoy some of Shanghai's best leisure facilities: two outdoor tennis courts and a state-of-the-art gym. Experiencing its indoor heated 30-meter swimming pool, guests will definitely enjoy the floor-to-ceiling glass windows from which they can overlook Puxi. On September 1, the hotel reopened its spa after renovations.

"Smiles talk," Doring says. "Our staff can greet guests in more than 10 languages. With state-of-the-art facilities and attention to every detail, the hotel provides an unforgettable experience to discerning business travelers."
