Make more of the weekend with a hearty Sunday brunch

SUNDAY brunch is a timeless tradition in Shanghai, and several venues in the city exceed usual expectations for the provision of great food and beverages within a cozy environment.

Spoil yourself and get more out of your weekend with a brunch at one of these four most sought-after outlets where you can enjoy inspired menus and service with poise in elegant surroundings.

Hilton Hongqiao

The five-star Hilton Hongqiao, which opened at the end of last year, is Hilton's newest hotel in China. Conveniently located in the rapidly developing Hongqiao section of Minhang District, it offers some of the most spacious and luxurious guest rooms in Shanghai and the largest ballroom in Puxi.

As the market leader of all-day dining and buffet restaurants in Hongqiao, it started the Sunday brunch at Essence restaurant and Pulse lounge bar in April.

The cold counter features a diversity of dishes from crispy glutinous rice cake, tandoor spiced chicken and grilled pumpkin to a selection of seafood including prawn, mussels, crab and oysters.

Japanese food, beef steak and eel are available at the hot counter. Desserts include chocolate truffle, mango pudding, and strawberry tart,

Kids are also catered for with a large children's corner with a wide range of games and a buffet between the Western and the Chinese section offering favorites such as chicken nuggets, French fries, pasta and more.

The children's area also encourages creativity as young diners are allowed to decorate paper tablecloths, cups and plates.

There are also two cooking class areas where children can learn how to make simple items such as cookies and then take their tasty creations home with them.

An all-in-one beverage station at Essence offers a selection of fresh juices, smoothies, ice tea and hot drinks. Guest can choose from the fresh fruits on display and the bartender will transform them into fresh juice drinks.
