Renaissance’s renovated ballroom, service peerless

a BALLROOM with the latest equipment in a five-star hotel is a natural first choice for people looking for an ideal venue for business conferences or newlyweds searching for a fantastic ballroom for their wedding party.
Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel’s newly renovated ballroom, completed in August with LED screens and an updated sound system, provides not only top-of-the-line facilities and environment, but also comes with 10 years of experience in service and a spirit of teamwork.
Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel is perfectly located in the commercial center of the Pudong New Area. Designed with an “East-meets-West” theme, balancing a mixture of traditional Chinese decor with a contemporary Western feel, the hotel, like all Renaissance-brand hotels, offers a distinctive individuality, while maintaining a boutique ambience.
After a month of renovation in August, the new wall treatments and ceiling bring a fresh image to the banquet ballroom, which also has a soft, thick New Zealand imported wool carpet with lotus patterns.
Two new embedded LED screens of 12 square meters are built into the wall of newly decorated 545-square-meter ballroom. Also, an extra, flexible LED screen will surprise customers. The ballroom can tailor the third LED screen according to the requests of customers, both in size and placement.
“This DIY ballroom design has attracted many customers to hold events here,” said Johnson Zhuang, director of marketing. “Until next January, the schedule for every Friday has been booked in the ballroom. Concerning our customers, our price is in keeping with the previous level until the end of this year, and the range of increase will be kept within 10 percent in the next year.”
The ballroom also is equipped with a 7500-lumen LED OVH and QSC sound system from the United States. Ten professional lighting control systems manage conference events, cocktail parties, stage performances and evening illumination.
The first wedding party was successfully held at the ballroom on August 31, after completion of the month-long renovation.
For events and banquets, 600 customers can be accommodated in the ballroom. For wedding parties, up to 30 round tables can be set up. The hotel offers 1,100 square meters of banquet space, along with other functional rooms of various dimensions.
“To be honest, it’s not difficult to find a new five-star hotel in this city with the best decor and high-end technology equipment. But we have an exclusive advantage beside the newly renovated ballroom — our people,” says Zhuang.
Some staff members have been working with Renaissance since the hotel was established some 10 years ago.
“The experienced service and the royal treatment make our customers feel like they are at home. Their sense of teamwork is a treasure to us,” Zhuang says of the staff.
A leaders in the hotel industry, Zhuang, a Shanghai local, is a perfectionist who aims high and always challenges himself. Holding a degree in business administration, Zhuang is among the youngest marketing directors in the Renaissance group. He has more than seven years of experience in hotel management.
Besides his hotel experience, Zhuang is an accomplished football player who started playing when he was four years old. Through his social network, he has attracted many sports teams to stay at Renaissance Pudong.
At the same time, what the athlete life brings to his current career is far more than the business opportunity.
“Team cooperation, sacrifice for the group, and an energetic and hard-working approach has become part of my body,” says Zhuang. He still plays football two to three times a week, which keeps him energetic and patient no matter how busy the hotel gets.
