A difficult portrait of migrant youth
SOME migrant youths exhibit extreme behavior or act abnormally, with characteristics that include being overly dependent, weak-willed, being suspicious and being petulant and stubborn.
Young migrants usually have low self-esteem, which causes unsteady mood and decreasing passion for studies and living.
All these lead to psychological problems. Besides social difficulties, typical issues include absenteeism, stealing, learning failure and others.
Also, migrant families often live in chaotic communities where many unemployed tramps and criminals hang out. Over long term, the youth, without proper education and guidance, will gradually go astray.
Media are also a huge negative influence for migrants.
Since many migrant parents are too busy struggling to make a living, they spend very little time with their children.
Many migrant teenagers spend much of their time watching television and wallowing in Internet cafes. Violent and sensual scenes from movies and videos increase their violent tendencies.
